In 1951, Isamu Noguchi, a Japanese-American sculptor and designer, created Akari Light Sculptures: over 100 lamps of all sizes and prices, crafted from washi paper and bamboo. He named the series "Akari," a Japanese word for light and clarity. Each lamp is produced by the Ozeki workshop, a Gifu-based family business. Beloved by design fans around the world, these paper lanterns have a unique and often whimsical look. They provide high-grade light, soft and diffused.

With every order at DANSK, we donate a sum to innovative companies that capture CO₂ from the atmosphere, store it, and thereby make our shipments carbon-neutral.
